Jobs that change the world

Clean water, food, pharmaceuticals, and renewable fuel all fall within the realm of chemistry. Similarly, cosmetics, paints, detergents, as well as rubbers and plastics, are also products of chemical processes. Chemistry represents an ever-evolving and diverse natural science that intersects various disciplines and individuals. Through chemistry, transformations are wrought upon the world.

Sustainability

The voluntary sustainability program of the chemical industry, Responsible Care, has been guiding the sector’s sustainability efforts in Finland for almost three decades, spanning nearly 30 years. The outcomes have been noteworthy. For instance, accidents have witnessed a reduction of 91% since 1988, energy consumption has decreased by 20% since 1995, water consumption has shown a 60% reduction since 1995, and greenhouse gas emissions have been curtailed by 32% since 1999.

Our objective revolves around achieving a nature-positive and carbon-neutral chemical industry.

Have you ever taken a moment to contemplate how an object could be most effectively recycled? How will our natural resources suffice in the future? Are you in search of meaningful employment that provides diverse opportunities? The chemical industry could be the right fit for you, whether you aspire to attain a vocational diploma or an advanced university degree. This is a global sector that can also serve as a launching pad for an international career.

For guidance counselors and teachers

Within the chemical industry enterprises directly employ 34,000 Finnish individuals, while indirectly and through income-related effects, the number approaches nearly 100,000. This diverse and globally oriented export sector consistently demands new skilled professionals. We are enthusiastic about providing resources to facilitate the work of both students and educators.
