The Chemical Industry Safety Award is a recognition of exemplary safety work. The award encourages purposeful safety efforts, better results, and the sharing of best practices.

The Chemical Industry Safety Award is awarded every two years. Most recently, the award was given out in the summer of 2023. You can read more about the winners here.

Educational institutions at both the secondary and tertiary levels can apply for the award, while the corporate category is intended for companies involved in the chemical industry's Responsible Care program.

The evaluation criteria for the Chemical Industry Safety Award in the corporate category are based on the company's development projects, good practices, or effective operational methods. Safety level improvements are also considered in the evaluation.

In the corporate category of the Chemical Industry Safety Award, the evaluation takes into account development projects related to occupational safety, process safety, and preparedness for safety threats. The development of employee well-being is also part of the evaluation. The corporate awards are divided into three categories based on the size of the companies and their locations: small, medium-sized, and large companies.

In the evaluation of applications in the educational institution category of the Chemical Industry Safety Award, particular attention is given to the development of activities or education in terms of safety culture, thinking, and expertise. Secondary and tertiary education institutions offering education in fields broadly related to chemistry, as well as various natural sciences and engineering areas, can apply.
