Johanna Pentjärvi Appointed Managing Director of Finnish Bioindustries (FIB), Katarina Dahlman Appointed Senior Advisor at the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland

The Responsibility and Industrial Policy Team of the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland and Finnish Bioindustries (FIB) have strengthened their organizations with new appointments. Johanna Pentjärvi has been appointed Managing Director of Finnish Bioindustries, succeeding Alexandra Peth, and Katarina Dahlman has been appointed Senior Advisor at the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, with responsibility for Environmental Policy and Biodiversity as well as advocacy related to environmental policy. Pentjärvi will also take on responsibilities related to Innovation and Finance at the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland. Both assumed their positions on 1 June 2026.

Johanna Pentjärvi Appointed Managing Director of Finnish Bioindustries

Pentjärvi brings extensive experience in business advocacy, the development of the industrial operating environment, and regulatory, sustainability and innovation issues that support sustainable growth. She has worked extensively at the intersection of environmental, biodiversity, sustainability, innovation and industrial policy and has actively contributed to the preparation and advancement of issues affecting business growth and competitiveness.

–  I am excited to take on this role and bring fresh energy to it. Innovation is close to my heart, and this new combination of responsibilities enables me to build new bridges around innovation and finance-related issues. Finland has strong expertise, research and business activity in biotechnology. The next important step is to strengthen the sector’s visibility, growth opportunities, export potential and financing base, Pentjärvi says.

Katarina Dahlman Appointed Senior Advisor at the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland

Katarina Dahlman has previously served as an Advisor in the Responsibility and Industrial Policy Team of the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, focusing on Environmental Policy and Biodiversity as well as advocacy related to policies concerning the sustainability and market mechanisms of new products and raw materials.

Dahlman has extensive experience in national and European environmental policy and EU affairs. She has previously worked as a Senior Specialist at the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels. In addition, she has served as Special Adviser to Member of the European Parliament Nils Torvalds.

It is wonderful to continue working with our member companies on important environmental policy issues, while also deepening my own expertise and professional knowledge. A great deal is happening in the sector, and we have an excellent team with whom to carry out this work, Dahlman says.

Sami Nikander, Executive Director of the Responsibility and Industrial Policy Team at the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, considers both appointments significant additions to the organization’s advocacy work.

The appointments of Johanna and Katarina significantly strengthen our ability to anticipate changes in the operating environment and influence national and EU-level issues that are important to our member companies, Nikander says.
