Neste Oil Oyj has developed a technology that allows the production of high-quality biodiesel fuel from vegetable oils and animal fats. The process utilises the secondary flows of industrial production by means of chemistry, resulting in an excellent product with lots of market potential.
The NExBTL production technology allows the use of very varied raw materials, such as vegetable and animal fats generated as by-products in the industry. The first production facility based on the new technology was built in the Porvoo refinery in the summer of 2007.
